Symbols of Asian Culture

In this piece of research I thought it would be a great idea to start to gather imagery and symbols that relate to Asian culture so that I could draw inspiration from them and channel that in to my visual identity using my artist research as well.

The Great Wall Of China

Considered as one of the greatest wonders of the world, The Great Wall of China snakes around across all types of terrain across China like a dragon. I could see this having a place within my main visual identity. It could twist within my design perfectly.

The Bengal Tiger

The Bengal Tiger is a beautiful creature that has been chosen as India's National animal because of it's power, strength. elegance, alertness, intelligence and endurance which reflects the spirit of the country.
Yet again I could see a place for this creature within my identity which would represent India. The tigers stripes could weave within the design well.

The Elephant
Another national animal but this to south east Asia or more namely Thailand. I'm slowly building up a vision of how these animals could fit into my main image.

Chinese & Japanese Characters

It would make sense to include some Chinese and Japanese characters but I do feel like they wouldn't flow well within my design? The meaning for these symbols is Staple Food.

The Chinese Dragon

The Chinese plays a big part within the Chinese culture of today. It's a symbol for strength and power which kind of reflects the way China really is today as it is considered one of the worlds superpowers.
Another animal or creature that would fit nicely within my final image (identity) but I mustn't over complicate it.

Chinese Lanterns

Not only are they warming to look at, they have been within Chinese culture for many years. They are often used for ceremonial purposes which would be a fitting aspect because my event is about a celebration.

Dabbawallahs

I remember these food delivery people know as Dabbawallahs from an episode from Top Gear. IO remember how the cities of India have an amazing system where these people would deliver fresh hot curries to the workers within the city which have come from their own houses! Imagine having home cooked food delivered to your work place every day here, it would be just chaos but some how its just works there. This would be an nice edition to my piece, I could have a cyclist with all theses hot lunch containers strapped to the sides, riding along one of the strands.

I think that's enough visual research to go with. I have all sorts of imagery from across many different Asian cultures to draw inspiration from and some nice ideas to go by as well.
